Haweo is seeking a qualified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt (BB) to support the Naval Medical Forces Pacific (NMFP) Improvement Sciences Directorate in San Diego, CA. The Black Belt, working within the team, will execute process improvement initiatives using Lean Six Sigma methodologies, mentor personnel seeking LSS certification, and support continuous improvement projects across Navy Medicine's Pacific region commands. This position report to the Master Black Belt and work collaboratively to drive operational excellence throughout NMFP and its lower echelon commands. 
 
This position is hybrid, with 60% on-site at Naval Medical Forces Pacific (NMFP), 4170 Norman Scott Road, Suite 5, San Diego, CA 92136, 40% remote. Travel may be required to both CONUS and ONCONUS Navy Medicine locations.
 
What will you do? 
 
Performance Improvement (PI):
• Support process/performance improvement projects utilizing Lean Six Sigma (LSS) and Get Real Get Better (GRGB) methodologies 
• Apply DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) methodology for reducing variability and standardizing processes 
• Apply DMADV (Define, Measure, Analyze, Design, Verify) for new processes or enabling growth within new technologies 
• Lead and facilitate Rapid Improvement Events (RIE) for eliminating waste 
• Analyze existing workflows to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks 
• Develop and implement process improvement strategies 
• Enhance operational efficiency to reduce costs and increase stakeholder satisfaction 
• Foster a culture of continuous process improvement within NMFP and its supported commands
 
Mentoring and Certification Support:
• Conduct monthly mentoring sessions for personnel pursuing LSS certification 
• Verify knowledge transfer of belts applying for certification 
• Review submissions for technical accuracy and alignment with Navy Medicine strategic initiatives 
• Validate project scope, measurable results, and adherence to Navy Medicine's uniform documentation methodology 
• Deliver professional development courses via in-person or virtual/asynchronous modalities
 
Documentation and Reporting:
• Conduct comprehensive process mapping and analysis 
• Identify key areas of inefficiency and recommend improvement actions 
• Provide detailed reports documenting current workflows, identified inefficiencies, and recommended improvements 
• Develop optimized workflows and work with stakeholders to implement changes 
• Produce briefing slides, metric charts, progress reviews, program schedules, technical reports, and organizational charts

Requirements

Requirements/Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree minimum (Business Administration or Engineering)
• Lean Six Sigma Black Belt certification 
• Must have practiced continuously as a Black Belt since certification
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant field experience in Continuous Process Improvement/Lean Six Sigma (CPI/LSS) 
• CPI/LSS experience in the healthcare industry is required 
• Experience in all elements of ASQ BB Book of Knowledge (BOK) or equivalent industry-recognized quality organization (i.e., NCQA and others) 
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience associated with successfully accomplishing Performance Improvement requirements
• Active Secret security clearance required
• Proficiency in Microsoft Teams, MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, Access), Power BI, and Adobe Acrobat
 
Preferred Skills
• Master's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Healthcare Administration, or related field
• Experience supporting military health system, Navy Medicine, or federal healthcare operations
• Working knowledge of Navy and Marine Corps operational environments
• Experience with Get Real Get Better (GRGB) methodologies
• Familiarity with Project Management Institute (PMI) guidelines
• Knowledge of American Society of Quality (ASQ) standards and guidelines
• Prior Navy Medicine or Military Treatment Facility experience
• Green Belt mentoring 
 
Background Requirements
Due to this being a contract position working for the US government all candidates must be a U.S. citizen and pass a criminal background check as well as a drug test.
 
Physical Requirements:
Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time. Position may require typing and reading from a computer screen. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, reaching, and kneeling to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. May include lifting weight up to 30 pounds as necessary.

Posted Salary Range

USD $110,000.00 - USD $120,000.00 /Yr.
